Joint IASD/DreamScienceTM
foundation
Grant Opportunity: The DreamScienceTM foundation (DSF) is working in partnership with the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), to provide “seed” grants for dream research. The objective of this joint granting activity is to stimulate dream related research with students and professionals who might not otherwise be able to pursue that research project and to enhance the “S” mission of IASD in supporting research. The grants would be awarded to recipients, based on judging by a Research Grant Committee, of proposals received. The number of grants, and the amount for each, will be limited by the funds made available each year from DSF and others who donate to the fund. Those receiving grants will be required to follow certain reporting requirements and may be offered a chance to report results at the annual IASD conferences. Research Focus: The focus of the granting activity is dream research, particularly research that uses good research methodology designed to provide measurable and repeatable results. Disciplines of interest include, but are not limited to, the neuroscience of dreaming, psychological studies of dreaming and quantitative dream research in such fields as anthropology and cultural studies. Grant Award Process:
at least once per year, in conjunction with the IASD annual conference in
June, IASD and DSF will announce a call for research grant Letters Of Intent
(LOI) with deadlines in the August to September timeframe. On the basis of
review by the Research Grant Committee some will be offered invitations to
submit a formal Grant Proposal. These will then form the basis of a grant or
grants to be awarded in the November to December timeframe each year. IASD
and DSF will announce awards on the DSF and IASD web sites. IASD at its
discretion my also announce the winners in internal newsletters and the IASD
periodical DreamTime. The awardee(s) of the previous year’s grant(s) will
also be announced at the annual IASD conference in June of the following
year, and depending on the practicality, the researcher will be provided an
opportunity to present preliminary or final results at that or a following
conference.
